This Week in Service

Hello Servicers,

We are putting together final reports of students volunteering efforts throughout the year. Did you volunteer somewhere this year and want to be recognized for your effort? Please fill out this quick little form to let us know!

For volunteering, plenty of opportunities abound this summer for help. Places such as Rippling Waters, Cultivating Communities, Preble Street Resource Center and Wayside Soup Kitchen could always use help. Just reply back to this email to get involved!

And here are our featured projects this week:

The Joint Parkside Block Party/Clothing Giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, June 5th from 11:30 – 2 pm in front of Sacred Heart/St. Dominic's Parish on Sherman St, a collaborative effort of HopeGateWay, Immanuel Baptist Church, Sacred Heart/St Dominic's Parish, Wayside Kitchen, Spiral Arts, CPPC, Parkside Neighborhood Center and Community Policing. Volunteer shifts are:
Friday, June 4th from 9 am-12 pm and 3-6 pm to help sort clothing and accept donations. Please contact me, Rachel Horton White, at rwhite@propeople.org if you're able to help with clothing set-up on Friday or Saturday.

Saturday, June 5th from 9:30-11 am and 11-3 pm to staff the clothing tables or help with block party set-up/clean-up.
Contact Erica Tobey of HopeGateWay (Erica@newlightportland.org or 899-2435) if you're able to help with food, games, or general set-up and clean-up at the block party.

Bayside World Market and Fair: we are seeking volunteers to staff the USM table on June 12th from 11 am to 4 pm. This is a great opportunity to participate in the event where you can meet all parts of the Portland community. Volunteers are needed for set up and breakdown, plus staffing our table during the event. Volunteers will be fed during the event. Email dabrown@usm.maine.edu for more information for specifics.

Look forward to hearing back from you!
