This Week In Service

Greetings Servicers!

We recently have been working hard to update our homepage for you, included is our latest news feed which you can subscribe to through a link at the bottom, a current opportunities page and our first Volunteer Spotlight featuring our student AmeriCorps Service Leader Jamison Wiggins! Take a look and let us know what you think!

And have you volunteered this past semester? Please submit your hours to us through this handy dandy form so we can include you in our annual report. This report will be shared with the University and community to show just how much USM has volunteered this past year. We appreciate greatly your responses.

And now on to the opportunties

Parkside Neighborhood Center After School program ~ Monday - Thursday weekly
Parkside is looking for volunteers to support their after school programs for local kids and families. Help with homework, help serve a family meal and jump around at the Hip - Hop nights, its all fun and important work! Contact dabrown@usm.maine.edu for details.

Mural Restoration ~ May 7th 10 am - 3 pm
We'll be out in Gorham restoring the world famous mural created by USM students in the fall semester. Located at the back of the Goodwill store in Gorham (102 Main St) we'll spend the day re-touching the colors and weather proofing it for the summer. Contact dcimato@usm.maine.edu for more info.

And finally were you enrolled in a course with service learning or civic engagement component?  If yes, please consider coming to the OCE's SERVICE LEARNING
CELEBRATION Monday, May 10th, 12:00 - 1:30 PM in 211 Wishcamper, Portland.

This event is an informal opportunity for service learning students and faculty...
to celebrate and be congratulated;
to share from your experiences;
to reflect on your  learning; and
to offer advice for the future.

We'll provide pizza and ice cream, so please RSVP (asampson@usm.maine.edu) to be sure we have enough!
