The Husky Harvest is less than two weeks away and here is an update on some of the specific events and vendors that are going to be a part of this wonderful exchange of culture.

Students from Dr. Tracy Michaud Stutzman's ANT 233 Food and Culture class and members of USM's international community, including the Asian American Association and Multicultural Student Association will be sharing recipes potluck-style on a first-come, first-serve basis. Asian, Mexican, Greek, and Indian, and Native American cuisine are just a few of the ethnic cuisines represented. These recipes have been compiled in a cookbook which you can purchase at the event. At the end of sampling all these tasty treats, you can vote for your favorite dish!

Along with student recipes, the Confucius Institute will be doing a live cooking demonstration making traditional Chinese dumplings. They will also be sharing traditional Chinese music and attire with attendees. Chef Brian Grossman from Luis's Arepera & Grill in Saco will be doing a live cooking demonstration on how to make fresh Italian pasta. We also have Greek and Cambodian dancers coming to share some traditional dances and the Muslim Student Association doing henna art. Along with these delicious dishes and live entertainment, local Portland vendors including Southern Maine Hillel, Coffee By Design, Greek Community, and ARAMARK will be present to hand out samples and sell goods.
