Great opportunity to volunteer for NanoDays at Southworth Planetarium on March 28th (4:00 - 6:00 pm)

for this event, we are looking for 2-4 volunteers!
  1. one person to hand out the free, previously solicited tickets for the events on the first floor near the stairs to the Planetarium. These will be pre-packaged in envelopes with the attendee's name. Events will be scheduled for different time slots (4:00, 4:30, 5:00, and 5:30 pm for NanoDays and 4:00 and 5:00 pm for the SEM demonstration) and and the tickets will already be marked to indicate the times.
  2. one person to collect the tickets in the Planetarium and direct the attendees to the NanoDays activities or to the SEM demo and the stubs for the door prizes and see that they get delivered to the 2 show locations (Planetarium gallery and Planetarium itself) for the various drawing times -- that's six different drawings. This person could also be in charge of the temporary tattoos we have on hand. They just require following directions and a wet sponge or cloth.
  3. two people who can help with the NanoDays activities with the K-8 students and their accompanying adult. The nature of these 10 - 12 different activities can be found at http://www.nisenet.org/nanodays-physical-kit-contents They are not complicated and we anticipate that one person can supervise 2-3 activities at the same time. The boxed activities are currently available for examination by contacting me at x4377 or by e-mail at gfletcher@usm.maine.edu
    1. We have limited the number of NanoDays attendees per 30 minute period to 15-20 K-8 students with an adult so there won't be an unwieldy crowd around the tables of activities.
