STRIVE Dance this weekend

2011 STRIVE ROCKS! Dance Marathon Volunteer Opportunities

 

Thank you for your interest in the 7th Annual STRIVE ROCKS! Dance Marathon.

This is our major fundraiser and it is a team effort to make this a successful event!

 We are expecting 550 dancers to dance the night away on March 5th starting at 8pm going strong through 10am on Sunday the 6th at the USM Sullivan Gym!

If you are interested in volunteering for one or more of the positions below, please email Rachel Putnam, rachel.a.putnam@maine.edu or call 780-4209 with the shift(s) that you would like. Thank You!

 

Set-Up: Meeting at STRIVE at 1pm on Saturday the 5th; we can never have too many volunteers. Help load the trucks and follow to USM to unload and set up stages, tables, stations, equipment and decorations.

 

Registration: 1 Shift from 6pm- to 10pm; Looking for 10 volunteers. Help register dancers and answer questions, as well as monitor guest passes.

 

Physical Plant: Shifts starting at 6:00pm; 10pm; 2am & 7am. Looking for 4 volunteers per shift. Help maintain the space during the event by replenishing items, emptying garbage, and general clean up. As well as monitoring spaces for cleanliness and safety. (Bleachers, Dance Floor, Entrance Area, and Hallways)

 

Snack Shack: Looking for coverage from 2am- 7am. Oversee snack area

 

Activities Monitor: Shifts starting at 6:00pm; 10pm-; 2am & 7am. Looking for 10 or more volunteers per shift. Oversee the use of electronic games (Guitar Hero, Rock Band & Connect), the entrance to the dance floor and the moon bounce. Making sure participants are following the rules and being safe.

 

Moral Team: Shifts starting at 10pm; 2am & 7am. Looking for 6 or more energetic volunteers per shift.  Responsible for helping dancers get around, answer questions, make sure the dancers are having fun and ensuring the safety of all participants. Plus dancing around & singing loudly

 

Take Down: Meeting at 9:30am on Sunday, March 6th; we can never have too many volunteers with the take down; it is one of the most important positions. Help break down tables, clean up of decorations, stages, equipment and stations, load them onto the truck and follow it back to the STRIVE Center in South Portland for unpacking.
