Color Me Rad 5K is looking for volunteers! (Brunswick, ME)

This is a really fun event where you run a 5K starting off with a clean, white shirt and along the way get "color-bombed" (sprayed with colored paint) in a variety of ways.  And it's coming to Maine!  The coolest part is they're looking for volunteers to do the color-bombing.

From the website: "We need volunteers to help hand out registration packets to runners on August 14th and 15th (location TBA) and to throw color and hand out water on Race Day, August 16th at Brunswick Landing.  Must be 14 years old to volunteer."

Summer Conversations

The Root Cellar is in need of dedicated, easygoing native English speakers to assist residents of Munjoy Hill and its surroundings with conversational English. These New Mainers are competent workers, though they are lacking conversational English needed for the workplace. Please consider giving just one hour weekly to improve our community and the lives of these residents.

When: Thursdays 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM
What: English conversation assistance

If you are interested in serving as a conversational English assistant/partner or would like more information, please contact Peggy Hinman at peggy@therootcellar.org or 207-774-3197.

Thanks in advance for your participation!

Buddy Needed!

We are searching for a mature male who would like to check out museums and art shows, see movies, Red Claws and Sea Dogs games, hike, take pictures, play baseball and fish, while serving as a companion to Ryan!

Ryan is a 32 year old male who has a high functioning form of Autism. He loves to do all sorts of things, but needs someone to accompany him outside of his group home where he often gets bored. His mom says he is 'a real guy's guy' and easily relates to people. She finds it hard to make the 1.5 hour trip to see her son as often as she would like and really wants to find him a pal.

You would need your own transportation to Scarborough, but tickets for any events or outings would be paid for by his Mom. We would like someone who can make a commitment of once per week.

This is a great opportunity to meet someone new and have some Summer fun--email me if you are interested!

Samantha

A few moments to read a story?

We are looking for someone who has time to visit a woman who recently suffered a stroke and read her a story.

It's an opportunity nearby at Cedar's Nursing Home and a very easy way to enjoy the company of another person and do something so meaningful.

If you are interested, please contact The Office of Community-Based Learning, 207-228-8092.
