Husky Day of Service: Success!

If you haven't already heard, this past Husky Day of Service was the largest in USM history! We had 16 community partners, 141 student, staff, and faculty volunteers, and overall contributed 459 hours of service to the Portland and Lewiston-Auburn community! Bravo, Huskies!

Check out the Husky Day of Service  and Portland Gear Hub Facebook pages for photos from the day and the CBL website for feedback from volunteers and community partners. Rumor has it, USM students are "polite, helpful, and fun!"

We hope to see you next year for an even bigger 6th Annual Husky Day of Service!

Rock Around the World! Friday, March 21st

The Multicultural and Multilingual Center (MLMC) at Portland Public Schools (PPS), annual fundraising event, Rock Around the World (R.A.W.)! is happening on March 21st. The R.A.W. event provides critical funding for our extended after school and summer academic programs for English Language Learners. Since the beginning of the 2013/14 school year we have welcomed 444 ELL students into Portland Public Schools.

Our volunteer needs NOW are contacting past and new donors for our silent auction. We also need volunteers to help us catalog and organize donation items, that may require work in Excel and MS. We would love help with creating a PPT and designing a poster for display at the auction. On the day of the event, we need assistance packing up donation items, loading at MLMC, and unloading items at the Italian Heritage Center. We will need help setting up the tables at the auction. During the event we will need runners to help us remove table items to the checkout.

Please contact Nanette Dyer Blake, at the MLMC Center at 207-842-4657 (direct line).
