Wayside Volunteer Opportunities

This week Wayside Food Rescue has many opportunities for groups and/or individuals.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) Distribution

CSFP is a Federally funded program, which works to improve the health of people at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA commodity foods. It provides food and administrative funds to States to supplement the diets of these groups. http://www.fns.usda.gov/fdd/programs/csfp/

3-4 volunteers are needed to assist CSFP recipients carry bags of groceries Monday from 12-3pm at Woodford's Church

 Wayside's 1st Sagamore Village Mobile Food Pantry

4 Volunteers are needed to help with our 1st Mobile Food Pantry at Sagamore Village on Tuesday from 9-11am.

 Wayside Food Rescue's Monthly Distribution Day

4-6 volunteers are needed to help distribute food to representatives from soup kitchens, food pantries & social service agencies in Cumberland County.  The distribution is from 7:30am-3:30pm, but volunteers are welcome to schedule for as long as their schedule allows.

Wayside Meals Program needs your help to prepare, transport & serve 7 meals each week

 

Help Prepare Meals at the Reed School Kitchen

28 Homestead Ave. Portland

 5 volunteers are needed to help Brenda & Steve prepare meals to be served at Hope.Gate.Way, PROP & Lincoln Middle School.  -Monday through Thursday 11:00 - 2:00 PM

 1 Volunteer to assist Steve Foley with deliveries of prepared meals to Hope.Gate.Way, PROP & Lincoln Middle School(This position requires the ability to help with heavy lifting). Monday through Thursday 2:00 - 5:00 PM

Help Serve Lunch & Dinner at Hope.Gate.Way.

Through the generosity of our volunteers, Wayside has served 624 individuals 1023 meals at Hope.Gate.Way.  On their behalf, THANK YOU!

 Volunteers are needed to help with lunch & dinner prep, greeting guests, serving meals, sharing meals & conversation with guests & cleaning up.

 Lunch: Tuesdays 10:30AM - 1:30PM

Dinner: Thursdays 4:30PM-7:30PM

 Help Serve Dinner or help with activities at PROP's Parkside Neighborhood Center

85 Grant Street, Portland

Tuesday 4:30PM - 7:30PM

5 volunteers are needed to help with meal prep, greeting guests, serving & cleaning up. 

Volunteers are also needed to help facilitate and/or assist with educational activities focused on healthy lifestyle choices, good nutrition, gardening & physical activity.

Bayside Volunteers needed!!

Bayside World Market and Fair: we are seeking volunteers to staff the USM table on Saturday June 12th from 11 am to 4 pm to Staff the USM table and assist the organizers.  Volunteers are also needed for set up between 10 and 11 and at breakdown from 4-6.This is a great opportunity to participate in the event where you can meet all parts of the Portland community. Volunteers will be fed during the event. Email me for specifics.
